Company Background

eMetric was founded in 2000 by Dr. Huixing Tang, a renowned psychometrician, and is located in San Antonio, TX. Over the past several years, eMetric has provided online reporting and assessment services for multiple states, including Connecticut, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Alaska, Nevada, and Florida. Additionally, in partnership with the nation's major test publishers, eMetric developed a series of online reporting products for their norm-referenced assessments.

Project Manager

Overview

  • Title: Project Manager
  • Location: San Antonio, TX

We are currently looking for a project manager to work on our innovative solutions for Business Intelligence and online assessment platforms. We offer a dynamic and team-oriented environment with ample opportunities for significant individual contributions to our products.

Responsibilities

  • Defines project scope, requirements, and business goals. Works with clients to clarify or modify requirements
  • Maintains primary contact with clients
  • Writes and maintains project documentation, including scope of work, change requests, specifications and business rules, and meeting minutes
  • Plans, schedules, and tracks project timelines
  • Works with other staff to resolve scheduling conflicts and resource constraints
  • Plans and leads internal team meetings and external client meetings
  • Understands client business needs and promotes appropriate eMetric solutions
  • Oversees project development, delivery, QA, and support
  • Identifies ways to improve and adapt procedures development, delivery, QA, and support procedures when appropriate

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, education, information technology, or related field
  • Familiarity with software development, project management, or business analysis tasks and techniques
  • Familiarity with trends in K-12 assessment and/or data warehousing highly preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Able to clearly present complex ideas to clients and other staff members in both verbal and written formats
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects at the same time. Pays close attention to details
  • Competent in MS Office and Google office tools

Front End Software Engineer

Overview

  • Title: Front End Software Engineer
  • Location: San Antonio, TX

We are currently looking for a front end software engineer to work on our Business Intelligence and online assessment tools. We offer a dynamic and team-oriented environment with ample opportunities for significant individual contributions to our products.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of Browser internals and aspects related to rendering, performance and security
  • Solid understanding of HTTP, Forms, AJAX and large scale/high volume web applications
  • In depth understanding of evolving HTML5 standards, such as Web Storage (Offline Storage, Session Storage, Indexed DB, etc.), Canvas and 2D API, New Elements and Attributes, Web Sockets and Web Workers
  • Expert knowledge of JavaScript using frameworks like jQuery
  • Good taste for design and solid understanding of CSS3 (Layouts, Selectors, and Animations etc.) and evolving frameworks such as WebGL
  • Experience in development of both server side and client side controls
  • Experience with Rich Client technologies such as Flash/Flex/AIR, Silverlight and JavaFX is a plus
  • Innovative approaches to solving problems and not afraid to experiment
  • Strong attention to detail and pride for UI design and development down to the pixel level

A Small Assignment:

Develop an on screen ‘Ruler’ with Inches on one side and Centimeters on the other. The ruler should be:

  • 50% transparent
  • Draggable
  • Be visible when placed on top of other elements on the page (images, etc.)
  • Able to toggle between measurement (inches vs. centimeters) using subtle animation

The Ruler should be developed using web standards (HTML5 and CSS3) and images without requiring any additional browser plugins. Ideally, the ruler should vector based and allow custom scaling without losing visual fidelity.
